For outdoor use, it is best to treat the furniture with Water-sealing applicants which will keep the moisture away, and prolong the life of rattan products. Clear lacquer sealant can be applied by spraying, or with a paint brush. Be sure to cover the entire surface and let the wicker dry completely. You may also use tung oil, or shellac as an effective sealant
