About the artist: Liberty Shuro is a Zimbabwean artist, born in Bulawayo. He started drawing at a very young age. Liberty has developed his incredible talent since a young child and has studied other artists from both his native Africa and internationally. Liberty is passionate about the environment and the beautiful African animals that inhabit his home country ,Zimbabwe and other African countries. Unfortunately a number of these beautiful animals face an ever growing threat of extinction.
Liberty does most of his drawings in pencil due to his ability with this instrument to capture the different textures and illusions of his subject, and has adopted the realism technique in his art. Inspired by the beauty of the wildlife that surrounds him in his home of Zimbabwe, Liberty chose to specialise in wildlife drawings and has developed a unique eye for capturing his subjects expressions in their natural habitat. The authenticity of Liberty’s art is evident in each and every drawing.
We are so pleased to be partnering with Liberty exclusively in Australia. the majority of the proceeds (after printing and postage) will go to the artist and the conservation of the painted dog to Painted Dog Organisation – https://www.painteddog.org

African wild dogs, are commonly referred to these days as painted dogs (given this name due to their scientific name being Lycaon pictus – which means “painted wolf”) due to their irregular, mottled coat, which features patches of red, black, brown, white, and yellow fur. Each animal has its own unique coat pattern, and all have big, rounded ears.
These beautiful animals are now listed on the endangered species. African wild dogs used to range across 39 countries, with population numbers in the hundreds of thousands. Currently, there are fewer than 6,000 individuals left in the wild, forming fewer than 700 packs.
